Read the documentationDo I need to choose the model for every task?
No. Choose aster-work or aster-code when you connect. Aster handles model selection for each request, using the task and its context. You keep one product name in your integration as the work changes.
Should I use aster-work or aster-code?
Use aster-work for writing, research, analysis and everyday tasks. Use aster-code for coding agents and complex technical work. Both include routing; their input and output rates are listed above.
Can I use Aster with my existing agent?
You can use Aster through the API or configure a compatible agent with your Aster endpoint, API key and product name. Aster supports Messages, Chat Completions and Responses. Client setup and supported features vary; follow the integration guide for your agent.
Is routing billed separately?
No. Model selection is included in your product’s input and output rates. The rate stays the same across the supported models Aster routes to. There is no separate routing invoice or per-seat fee.
How do prepaid credits work?
Add USD credit to your account, starting at $5. Credit has no expiry. Usage is deducted from your balance as requests complete. There is no subscription or automatic top-up.
What counts toward usage?
Input and output tokens are counted separately. Input includes the instructions, conversation and tool content sent with a request. Reasoning tokens count as output and are not charged again as a separate item.
Am I charged for failed or cancelled requests?
No. Only completed, successful requests with reliable token usage are charged. Failed and cancelled requests do not incur a usage charge.
How is the Fable 5.1 comparison calculated?
We price the same input and output token volumes at your selected Aster product’s rates and Anthropic’s standard Fable 5.1 rates. The graph updates with your selected product and token volumes. It excludes prompt-cache and batch discounts, taxes and extra tool fees. It compares token prices; actual token usage and results can differ between models.
How are cached tokens billed?
Cached input tokens are included once at the normal input rate for your product. The listed rates do not apply a separate cached-token discount.
Can I bring my own provider keys?
Bring your own key is in development. It will let you put your own provider model collection behind Aster Router. The rates on this page apply to the current managed products, aster-work and aster-code.
